Envelope Distort - Apply same distortion to new object?

I can create an Envelope Distortion using a mesh grid to achieve the result I want for a single .AI file. However, I want to now use that same distortion map and apply it to a new identical sized file (but with different artwork). Is there any workflow or tools to achieve this? Alternatively, is there any control in ExtendScript you are aware of to do this programmatically? Many thanks!

Another way:

Select the Envelope distorted object.

Choose Object > Envelope Distort > Release

This will give you 2 objects, the Mesh and the content.

Replace the content and with the Mesh on top select Object > Envelope Distort > Make with Top Object.

Awesome, releasing the grid works for my application (many grouped objects and layers). Thank you!

If you start with a symbol and distort it, you can replace the symbol by another symbol when you choose Object > Envelope Distort > Edit Contents

You actually don't even need to select Edit Contents, just replace the symbol (alt drag another on top of it) in the Symbols panel will do it.
