Envelope Distort: Effects are clipped outside the path boundary

Hi everyone,

I run into a problem with illusrators envelope-distort effect. Using Envelope Distort → Make with Top Object to map a gradient/striped texture onto a wavy loop. At the two crossings, the overlap collapses into a sharp point, then expands again. Also, everything outside the loop outline is hard-clipped.

In a tutorial (orange example), same loop shape shows broad, flared overlaps, and artwork appears visible beyond the selection during editing. My result (blue) doesn’t—overlaps pinch to a point and anything beyond the path is cut off.

Please send help
