EPS layer question

So I have an EPS file of a curled page corner with a shadow, and I'm trying to place an image as the bottom layer under the shadow, but the image keeps showing through to the other layers.  How would I just have it appear under the shadow layer?

Is that effect still being used in today's world of marketing and advertsiing? Wow. That was one of the effects we learnt in school, over 20 years ago. I can't remember, but here is a great video on that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUGf-m_t-WY

That effect was taught in schools?

30 years ago in Photoshop you just used a plugin.

Anyway: you do not need 15 minutes to explain it.

That would depend on the document structure. The download is not free, can you perhaps show the layer panel with the objects visible in it?

Hello.  I bought the license from Shutterstock so I spent hours trying to figure out how to prevent the image as the base layer from appearing through to the other layers.

I believe you did. But we cannot help you if we do not see what you are seeing in the file. And specifically we need to know how precisely it is set up.
