Eraser Pressure sensitivity inaccurate

Hi hope someone can help me –

I'm working with an older wacom and performance has been fine until recently w/out update (I downgraded to 28.7.1 to fit performance) I'm working on a monterey MacOS MBP (it's old, I understand but it has been great to me).

If I'm working with the eraser tool, lets say I'm working with a 12pt diameter brush, whenever I use pressure sensitivity this annoying giant sphere emerges from my contact point (wayyyy bigger than max diameter I anticipate).  Fixed Pressure seems to work fine but I would like to have the option of having pressure control for my eraser since I chop out forms negatively regularly.
