eraser tool

I was filling in some of my work when all of a sudden it switched to the eraser tool and now I cant use any other tool. every time I try to pick a tool it stays as the eraser?

pls help if anyone can lol its really important work to me.

    In addition, you can reset the preferences

    "To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Illustrator. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Illustrator"
