Error Loading Plugin (DxfDwgFileFormat.aip) - Illustrator v30.0

Hi everyone,

I tried to upgrade Illustrator on a Mac Studio 2023 with Sequoia 15.6, from v29.8.1 to the latest v30.0, but immediately after the splash screen, a window appeared saying "Plug-in issues detected." It warned me that the program will run in protected mode and that the "DxfDwgFileFormat.aip" plug-in had been disabled. The suggestions advised me to update or install it, indicating the folder.

I searched, but I couldn't find anything with that name (even in hidden folders), and I don't seem to have installed any plugins, not even third-party ones. The plugins folder is empty.

I also tried deleting the preferences, but nothing changed.

I've currently uninstalled v30.0 and downloaded 29.8.3, which doesn't have any issues, but I'd like to understand what's wrong. This is also because on another computer with the same configuration (a MacBook Pro with Sequoia 15.6), installing v30.0 didn't cause any problems or errors.

@mania79 DxfDwgFileFormat.aip, is not a third-party plugin; it's a core file required for Illustrator's ability to import and export the AutoCAD DXF and DWG file formats. It's a classic example of a corrupted or incomplete installation of an essential piece of the application. You can't find it in the standard user plugin folder because it resides within the Illustrator application package itself. When you update, the Creative Cloud installer is supposed to replace or update this file. 

Since a simple uninstall and reinstall via the Creative Cloud Desktop app often leaves behind residual, corrupt configuration files (like those from previous versions), the most robust solution is to perform a clean installation using Adobe Cleaner, https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/creative-cloud/apps/troubleshoot/diagnostics-repair-tools/run-creative-cloud-cleaner-tool.html

I would uninstall Illustrator v30.0 with the Creative Cloud Desktop application to uninstall the problematic v30.0 (and v29.8.3, or any version of Illustrator 2024) from your Mac Studio. After you have clean the old Illustrator with Adobe Cleaner, make sure to empty the trash as well then restart your Mac.

Then use the Creative Cloud Desktop, app and this is crucial, download a fresh Illustrator, don't use the one you used in the past, that could be the issue and to reinstall the latest version of Illustrator (v30.0).
