Are there hidden layers in the file?

Windows OS, Illustrator CC, No hidden layers/objects underneath.

Turn on pixel preview to check if the object is really there.

You might also want to try and restrt the machine and trash your Illustrator preferences.

If all that does not help, you will need to upload the AI file for us to check.
