I have had no problems previously and now I am not able to save my AI file. Size doesnt seem to matter, took old file, deleted a pic and tried to save as a new file and i keep getting same error.

Ive changed the directory of the scratch disk. Didnt help

Is uninstalling and reinstalling software the next best fix?

As Andi mentioned above, we do not have updates available for CS applications. For CS3 to work you need a system with Windows XP or Vistas.

Did you try the steps I shared above? Do they help to resolve the issue?

CS3 was replaced by CS4, CS5 then CS6, which was finished about 7 years ago.

We now have Creative Cloud subscriptions to the current versions.

    Hi Matthew,

Thanks for reaching out. As per your query, you are getting memory error while saving files on Illustrator CS3. This is most likely to be happening because of system incompatibility. CS applications are discontinued and are not compatible with today's operating systems (Older versions of Adobe Illustrator system requirements ).

Could you please confirm which operating system you are working on (Exact version of Windows MAC)? If it is anything above Mac OS X v10.4.810.5 (Leopard) or Windows Vista then I am afraid attempts to troubleshoot the install could result in it becoming unusable.

We strongly recommend upgrading your software to a newer version that is supported or downgrade the OS.

You can try resetting preferences after taking the backup of the folders in case you want to.

    For MAC

    • Close all Adobe applications.
    • Go to locations
    • ~/Library/Caches
    • ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    • ~/Library/Preferences
    • Rename  Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator and Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old, com.adobe.illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folders.old.
    • Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.

    For Windows

    • Close all Adobe applications.
    • Go to Locations C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and.
    • Rename  Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folders.old
    • Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.

This way all your old settings will be saved in .old folders and illustrator will create new folders with default settings.

    Regards,

    Srishti

What operating system are you using? If you are on any Macintosh system later than Yosemite or on Windows 10 your version of Illustrator is completely unsupported. Even if you have been lucky enough that it was working up until now any recent upgrade would lead to unexpected changes in behavior.

How much space on your C drive?

Don’t reinstall. It may never work again If you do. This software is in the last chance saloon.
