Escape Key Issue

When I hit the Escape Key to cancel out of an action, it also exits me out of Full Screen Mode.

I don't want to exit Full Screen Mode!

It just started happening recently, and it's driving my nuts. I couldn't find anything under "Edit/Keyboard Shortcuts" to turn off the ESC hot key for Full Screen Mode.  I've looked everywhere on the web trying to find a solution, so it's probably something real simple.

I'm using Ilustrator CC 2017.1.0 on a MacOS Sierra 10.12.5.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Just to clarify a bit: What do you mean by "an action"?

An Illustrator action (see Actions palette) or some kind of general action (e.g. escaping a text object or a modal dialog)?

Kurt,

"Action" probably wasn't a good word.

The main problem was that whenever I was using the "Artboard Tool," and I would hit ESC to cancel out of it, the whole window would exit Full Screen Mode and shrink to about half size.  It seem to be working fine now with the fix Mike offered above.  Thanks!

Hi Robert,

Edit >> Keyboard shsrotcuts

Check that you don't have escape set here

That didn't do it.  Thanks though!

Maybe there is something else in you system prefs that is interfering scrub though here

And review  this setting which I know creates problems with FKeys not working and just wondering if that might affect your esc which is next to them.

Do have any custom plug ins installed or in Illustrator or your OS. Even the wacom driver could cause something like this.
