I have been working on this important file for days and I saved it multiple times in the span of those days. My laptop just now shut down because it ran out of battery, and when i restarted it again and reopened the file, everything in the file disappeared, the artboard turned white blank. I checked the DataRecovery folder but it's empty, I didn't turn on Data recovery option in Preferences beforehand because I thought saving it is safe enough. Someone please help!!

Hello @Paige98A6,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind providing details on the circumstances under which these files were saved or edited, and the location where they were stored (internal/external/network drive or a cloud-synced folder like Google Drive/Dropbox/etc), so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your reply. I saved it in 😧 drive of my laptop. I didn't back it up anywhere else. I'm not sure what details to give, I was just working on the file normally, the file isn't too large it's probably over 10mb in size, I saved it every few minutes until the laptop shut down like I described and now the artboard is blank, there's no layers, the file sized is reduced to a few hundered kbs. Everytime I open the file now a dialogue appears like in the following post https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/q/68116.  I think this is Illustrator ver 22.0.1.

Thanks for the confirmation @Paige98A6,

If Illustrator cannot recover the file automatically, the file is likely lost. We understand this may not be the ideal outcome, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

To avoid similar situations in the future, we advise saving multiple copies of your active work locally or saving them as cloud documents.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need assistance. We're here to help.
