Expand/Expand Appearance changing width of stroke

Good morning,

The process that we use involves taking a design and creating a layout from it. One of the steps that we use is expanding the shapes that have a stroke around the border. Whenever I use this tool, it sometimes changes the width of the stroke (which needs to stay uniform throughout). It usually happens with more curvy shapes. I was wondering if there is a work-around for this or if it is a graphics/computer issue. Thanks!

@cstan4 Strokes are hinted, they use a system that ensures that they display a consistent weight on low resolution devices like screens and desktop printers. When a stroke gets outlined, it is no longer a stroke, but a shape. The hinting disappears which may give it a slightly different appearance.
