Question

Export 3D text to Dimension and Aero?

It's too bad Photoshop's 3D capabilities have been discontinued, now learning about using illustrator for 3D text.

How can I export 3D text from Illustrator to use in Dimension and Aero? Thanks!

Use the 3D & Materials effects to create it.

Apply color, but you can ignore the materials, because they do not get exported

Then use the Export for screen panel to export the objects as OBJ

Thanks Monika! I liked being able to draw my own letters on the iPad with Apple Pencil and then extrude them in Photoshop to make 3D. Is there anyway I can do that in Illustrator where I hand draw my own bubble letters on the iPad and bring them into Illustrator to create in 3D and then export? Thanks again

You can draw the letters in Adobe Fresco or Adobe Illustrator on the iPad. Use vector brushes in Fresco.

Both can be used in Illustrator on the desktop. The Fresco drawings might need some editing (using Pathfinders to make clean shapes etc).

Then apply the 3D and materials effects.
