Export for Screens PNG pixelation

Same graphic exported as PNG with transparency: Left is LEGACY Save for Web, right is Export for Screens (1x). both 1000x650 and 72.  Screenshot is both images at fullsize in the browser.

Why the pixelation now? I've never had this in the past.  So dumb. Ugh. How about less AI and making sure the basics work right, Adobe? Huh?

(Ill v28.1, MAC Sonoma 14.3)

That was it. When did they get turned off by default? I've never turned them off (or "on" for that matter).

I just installed Illustrator on a new machine, and Type Optimized is (in my opinion) wrong default.
