Export Issues in Adobe Illustrator: Artboard vs. Bleed Problem

I'm trying to export a file as PNG/JPG from Illustrator, but I'm having an issue. Even though I select the 'Use Artboards' option, the exported file includes the bleed area instead of being limited to the artboard size. I've already tried reinstalling the program, but the problem persists. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My Export As does not give a PNG preview at all, but does (sometimes) export the bleed.

Although they are different exports (for screens and export as...) they influence each other.

If I turn on to export the bleed in the Export for Screens settings, it will also use the bleed in the Export As...

Turning it off in the Export for Screens settings, it will also turn it off in the Export As... (Edit: if the Use Artboards is checked in Export As...)

I'm not having the same issue. v27 thru v29

That being said, the preview in the Export As dialog shows the bleed issue, but my resulting test file was fine.

Seems like it does this since at least AI 2023.

Try Export for Screens where you can turn the bleed off.

Don't forget to check the cog wheel icon in Export for Screens to control the export settings.

Hello @Kevin35380180ff49,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind sharing more details, like the version of Illustrator/OS installed, and screenshots of how the image looks in Illustrator vs how it's exported and the settings used so I can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I have the latest version of Illustrator (Version 29.1); I just reinstalled it, thinking it would solve the issue, but it didn’t work. I also reset the program’s preferences, and that didn’t help either.
