Export JPG in same folder as AI file

Hello, since update (CC 2018), when I do file>export> as jpeg, the file location is the last used and not the same as the AI file just open.

This can seems not important for you, but I do this 40x per day and now it's a waste of time.

I have to browse all the folders on local network .. to find my folder and it's boooooring.

There is no setting for this in preferences.

Thank you for your help.

(we are a infographist team and all complains about this.)

I seem to remember this was a preference setting in previous versions. The choices for exporting were to remember either the folder location or the export file format, but not both. I chose format. The dialog box always opened in the folder of the .ai file with the correct format (.png) always selected. This changed only with the CC 2018 update.

I looked for and could not find the preference in CC 2018. The preference was set several years and probably several versions ago. I have been using Illustrator since version 1.

Hi davidf,

I Tried to replicate the same issue on my end, however, I was unable to do so. Please try resetting preferences and launch the application again.

Reset Preferences :

  • Close all Adobe applications.
  • Go to Locations C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and.
  • Delete Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 22 Settings folders.
  • Launch Illustrator from the creative cloud.

Regards

Srishti

Do you have a permissions issue with your Library or Preferences folder if you are on a Mac?

No permissions issues and I'm (we) on Win7 64x Pro.
