Export JPG shows artifacts in Illustrator

When I export from Ai to JPG on every setting I get artifacts of white horizontal lines through my art. Exporting a PDF usually creates file sizes that are too big to email, even when I reduce as much as I can. Is there any way to get rid of these artifacts?

Hi,

I don't know if this can be considered a similar problem: I have an artifact when exporting a shape to a PNG format file using the "Save for Web (Legacy)" option. 
In detail: when the original shape touches the edge of the work surface, an artifact appears at the bottom of the file: part of the shape is duplicated. 
There is no problem with the "Export for screens" option. 
Personally, I prefer to use the legacy function but this bug is annoying (I'm using the latest AI 2024 version)

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. I tried replicating this on my end but was unable to do so. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator and links to a sample Ai and exported files, so we can investigate this further?

Hello Anubhav,

I'm using AI 28.3 + Window 11.
My test file contains a simple circle drawn on an artboard that measures exactly the same dimensions as the circle.
Exporting it to PNG using Save for web (legacy) should produce the artefact.
Update : unchecking clip to artboard option resolve the problem, but modify the height of the file (as you can see on the screenshot) and leaves a space at the top of the image.

Are these pattern fills?

Did you try "Art Optimized" for Anti-aliasing in the JPEG export options?

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I'd request if you can share a few more details like:

The exact version of Illustrator and the Operating System.
Do these artifacts appear on every file exported as JPG?
Could you please share a few screenshots of what exactly is happening at your end?

We are using Adobe Illustrator 23.1.1 and macOS 10.14.6.

No, they don't appear on every file. But some have the issue no matter how high we put the quality settings.

The following demonstrates the artifacts I'm talking about. You can see dotted horizontal white lines in the garments. It's critical these images are accurate because we need to show these images to customers.

Do these fills contain a pattern? It could be a moire and not a JPG artefact. If you have a pattern that neens to be translated to a pixel format you are likely to have patterns like this, you may be able to minimise them by blurring the pattern. Maybe even rasterising the objects at a different resolutinon before exporting to jpg can veil the artifacts.
