Export Setting from one version to import into the next.

I'm trying to export my settings from AI 15 to import settings into AI 17. I'm trying to get my workspace and keyboard shortcuts to move over, so I don't have to manually go in and re-do them. AI 15 will let me export the settings, but AI 17 will not recognize them. What do I need to do?

Do you mean from CS5 to CC 2017? In any case just modify the one folder to get what you need.

    copy workspace from:

    HD\Users\(user name)\Library\Preferences\Adobe Illustrator CS5 Settings\en_US\Workspaces

    to:

    HD\Users\(user name)\Library\Preferences\Adobe Illustrator 21 Settings\Workspaces

for keybarod shortcuts the field is loose above the same location as workspaces and is a .kys settings file

    \Users\(user name)\Library\Preferences\Adobe Illustrator 21 Settings\en_US\BeBopALula.kys

    Mike,

Sorry for the slight confusion. I'm going from CC 2015.3.0 to CC 2017.0.2. However, in principle your solution for CS5 also worked for CC 2015, so THANK YOU!

Do you by chance know what the Export Settings feature does in illustrator? (Edit / My Settings / Export Settings...) There is also an Import Settings... option as well. I was trying to use this to feature. It would export a file without any problem, but it would not import that file that I just exported. It kept giving me the following error:

Thanks again for your help with the path location of my preference files.

Same thing happened to me with  trying from 2015 to 2017.

Is supposed to work like this.
