exported svg id names are wrong

Hello

I export svgs from Illustrator in order to animate them. I use File - Export as - SVG. Was there an update today? Now when I export an svg, none of the layer(id names) are correct. The exported svg is naming them<svg id="a",  and so on.

If I uase the save as svg method, my layer id names have a bunch of extra letters and numbers added to them.

Please Help!

Thanks

Chris

Hi All,

We are sorry for the trouble. We are able to replicate the issue, and the bug is logged with the product team. The product team is currently investigating the issue. I would request you all to upvote this UserVoice and add your comments there, which will help in prioritizing the issue getting fixed. By doing this, you will keep getting updates. In the meantime, you may try the following workaround:

  • Install an older version of Illustrator v26.0.3
  • Uninstall Illustrator using the CC Cleaner tool
    - Manually remove the preferences for Illustrator:

    - Go to Location C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
    - Rename Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 26 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator - 26 Settings.old

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will
launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.

    - Re-install Illustrator from the Creative Cloud Desktop app

We will reach out to you if we need any information and update the discussion once we get an update.
In the meantime, I would request you to try the workaround suggested above, be patient, and stay tuned for the updates.

This bug is a big issue for me, it took me much time to find out that I have to switch back to version 26.0.3

I hope this bug will be fixed soon...

Still more issues with the current 26.3.1 version. The exported svg won't preview, it's just blank. Tried various times on various svgs. Back to 26.0.3 version again.

Yes, this have happened quite recently.
Layer called B-ABC is not becoming a or ba or something else.
Best solution seems to be to switch to Affinity...
Layers in the AI-file in illustratror.

Layers when exported to SVG in Illustrator

The layers for me are used in html then and obviously it stopped working.
But good thing that this works fine in Affinity Publisher.

One workaround is to roll back to earlier Illustrator.
I noticed that 26.1 caused this problem.
By rolling back to 26.0.3 I got it to work...

Thanks. Using the previous version of Illustrator has not had any svg exporting issues.

I guess Adobe doesn't contribute to these comments.
Do you use Affinity to eport svgs that need to be animated?

This is still an issue for me. Uninstalling and reinstalling fixes it, but only temporarily.

I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall 3 times now.
