Exporting SVG Logo with Clearspace

Having trouble exporting an SVG of a logo with clearspace(negative space around the object). When I export the file I select use artboards. The SVG opens fine, the artboard is the right size, the logo is the right size with negative space around it. BUT When I go place the SVG into another project the bounding box is wrong. It is the size of the logo and not the size of the artboard. 

Is there anyway to save this type of file and place it without the bounding box adjusting.
