Exporting to Photoshop is 🐞🏙️

I've encountered a couple of bugs when exporting to layered PSB.

  • Sometimes the image will be completely flattened, ignoring layers
  • Sometimes, paths on one or more layers will be separated out onto individuals layers

As far as I could tell, the cause is that Photoshop doesn't like it when shapes have transparency set on the fill (the entire shape being transparent is fine, but appearances with opaque strokes and transparent fills are problematic). The problem occurs even if the offending path is not on the artboard being exported.

I don't have a great solution, other than to simplify my original artwork. If anyone has experience the same and has better workarounds, do let me know.

CC devs, please fix!

There are some rules for export, maybe this helps: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/exporting-artwork.html (you have to scroll down to PSD)

You could also try Copy and paste.
