Extract text froma path

How can I extract a text which is in a path so as I could have the text and the path separated?

As I said: first copy the path with the group selection tool. Make sure you click on the path, not the text.

You can select the text with the text tool and copy it.

Click somewhere on your artboard and paste.

For the path use the direct selection tool to click the path, make a copy and paste and give it a stroke color.

Then Select the text with the text tool and cut it and paste.

Thank you so much Monika, but this way I have the text but not the path. The path desapears... What i need is to have the path without the text.
