extremely slow save and print time

Dear community,

I've looked around for posts with the problems I'm facing, but none of the proposed answers changed anything for me.

The issue is that even the smallest files (a page with a circle) takes around a minute to either save or print. This is extremely weird... I didn't have this issue when I used AI CS6 on the same computer.

The .ai I save are always without PDF support.

But also saving as PDF takes time, although maybe slightly less.

I tried deleting the CC odbm file, nothing changed.

I'm a bit desperate and would appreciate your help

Illustrator CC 20.1.0 (32-bit) installed on a Windows 7 N (32-bit) in a VirtualBox.

Cheers,

Sami

Problem solved. It took some debugging though.

So, what happened is as follows:

When the document has a RGB color profile, AI was interrogation my default printer  when saving the file. My default printer is a network printer and this interrogation took 30 seconds. We found out about it while monitoring network and I/O activity during save (and print).

The problem did not appear when using CMYK as the color profile of the file.

So this most probably depends on the printer, its color profiles and the file's color profile.

The solution was to change the default printer (now we put it as Adobe PDF) and the slowness disappeared like magic (or simply AI did not need to interrogate the printer anymore;-))

However, now the problem (30 secs of TCP traffic between AI and the printer) moved to when I select the network printer in the printing dialog. I will keep on investigating to see if this is necessary or could be solved by configuration. If anyone has input, it will be welcome.

Hope this post could be helpful for future users.

    Cheers,

    Sami

    in a VirtualBox.

Umm, well... There's your problem. You need to configure it suitably.

When you say it, do you mean the virtual box or AI to work with a virtual box?

Why would it be shared between printing and saving? The lag when printing is between the press and the printing dialog box appears.

If you have any clues about a specific direction, please let me know.
