Eyedropper on illustrator on iPad doesn’t work

I'm trying to drag colors from an image to use while I'm drawing and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I'm not really sure what triggers it, but I'll be copying colors with the eyedropper fine and then all of a sudden I go to get another color and it won't work and I have no idea how to figure out how to get it to work again. it grabs a blank color and turns whatever shape I have selected blank.

@FMSProjects by any chance do you have a keyboard attached to the iPad? If so, hold down the Shift key, you override this default behavior. The Eyedropper tool will then only sample and apply the fill color from the source object, ignoring all other attributes. Also, is the image being used a CMYK or RGB?
