Question

Eyedropper will only change colors if object is ungrouped

The title pretty much says it all. I cannot change the color of any object if it is in a group. Once I ungroup, I'm able to change the color to any color in my document. However, if I'm trying to sample a color from a PNG that I've brought in, I have to hold shift to select that color, if I don't the object becomes no stroke no fill. This started about a month ago and I've never had the issue before. I'm running Illustrator 24 and am completely updated.

Does it also happen when you boot into Safe Mode?

you say that this started about a month ago. Do you remember what you changed then? Maybe installed a plugin or a system extension? Updated the system?

Did you already reboot the computer?

Did you try and reset the preferences (this will erase your settings)

Does it work when you boot into Safe Mode?
