File images don't convert well

Can anyone tell me why images don't convert to a clear image when taken from an .ai version to PNG or JPG? I've done this with both photo images and a logo with typography & image and every time they convert to a very fuzzy image that's unusable. Most of the time I have to convert Adobe images and this is really frustrating.  Any help is really appreciated

    Please show an example.

    You know that PNG and JPG are raster images?

    Ok, so what's the best way to have these convert to usable files in instances where .ai is not an accepted format
