file Locked or in use and disappeared from finder

Question

I have a file which ive worked on for a long time which I can only see in the Illustrator home screen and not between my files, I've read not to save/open files on servers but that cant be the issue because I save everything on my laptop

If it is visible in the Home section of the Illustrator Home screen, you can hover over the filename and it will show the location.

did you save it on the cc web? (eg, start a new file and use the same save steps you used before and pay attention to where you save it.)
