hi , i make a3 broucher front back  in illustrator where i used 30 images like each jpg 4 to 6 mb and illustrator  file size is 490mb with all images embed , when i export embed file in pdf  for printing press i shocked when i check file size is around 900mb , and same i make broucher in macromedia freehand mx , and file size of freehand is 75mb with all embed, and then export to pdf  after embed size was 15mb.

what adobe is doing i don't know, anybody can tell me whats wrong, i am graphic designer. why they make illustrator if they can't program it well......lolx adobe.

    When you embed jpegs, they are not compressed anymore, so the filesize goes up.

    When you save an Illustrator file and check the "Create PDF Compatible File option" the images get embedded in the PDF part as well.

    When you save (a copy!) as PDF, turn off "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities" to reduce the filesize.

    And take a look at Monika's comments about the size of your images.

    It is best to optimize them in Photoshop.

    dear  this broucher  vector design, how you optimize this in photoshop , optimizing in photoshop will lose vector detail, ...if i am not wrong..

    Not the complete design, but all your single images need to be scaled in Photoshop to the exact needed resolution.

    Your JPEG files are 4 MB and you put 30 of them into an A3 brochure?

    Your images are much larger than needed. Which means you scale them down in Illustrator resp. FreeHand. This means that after scaling them down (to 20 or 30%) they don't get sharpened, so they won't look crisp at all after being printed.

    On top of that exporting a PDF from FreeHand won't get you a print-ready PDF at all (neither will saving to a Highres print PDF from Illustrator). It looks like your design and prepress workflow needs some adjusting.

    ok , i got your answer, how i can make direct embed pdf  from illustrator file , i dont want to select each image and embed in illustrator,  any short way please , because pre press required pdf file.

    When you create a PDF the images are automatically embedded.
