File Sorting Preference in "Your Files" Resets to Date Modified After Restart in Illustrator 2026

Updated to 2026 version, now when I go to open a file or go to ‘Your Files’ on the main open screen the files are sorted by Date Modified. When I change it to sort by name it doesn’t remember this the next time I open illustrator. It is VERY frustrating, as I name my folders with numbers so they are in a particular order and it’s in a completely random order every time I open it. This is also the case with Photoshop. How do I make it remember my preference?

    Thanks for reporting this and for sharing the details. I checked this behavior on my end as well and I'm currently confirming it with the product team to understand if this change in sorting behavior in Illustrator 2026 is expected or if it needs further investigation.

    I'll update the thread as soon as I hear back from them.

    Thanks again for reporting this and for your patience while we checked internally. I wanted to let you know that we’ve logged a bug for this behavior, as it appears to be a regression in Illustrator 2026.

    The product team is now aware of the issue and is working on a fix. I’ll keep this thread updated as soon as we have more information to share.
