Files saved in CS6 format - Illegal Operand Error

I need to hop between Illustrator 2026 and CS6 and in doing so I use an external USB flash drive. Upon loading a file from 2026 (saved in CS6 style) I got an illegal operand error. I used the place method and it created a single layer with a ton of clip groups. Fixed it, moved on, but every time I load from the drive (in CS6) I get an operand error:
<00>
0.8
0.4
0
<
00
>
Opening in 2026 causes the file to not load fully, prompting it to recover what it can, it does but puts everything into a linked file and Im unable to edit the vector. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello @Astrosnk @KALEWHOO

    The team is aware of the problem and has tried fixing it with the latest Illustrator 30.4 (Beta) release. Would you mind installing the latest Illustrator (Beta) and letting us know if it helps?

    Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you. I will test this later tonight if I have time. In the middle of some big projects that I can’t lose time on.

    SOLUTION - Albeit not great. I reverted back to version 30.1 and it worked fine without the error. Maybe that will be fixed in an version past 30.2.1.

    I have the same error going on. Does not matter where it is saved. Also tried turning of save in background to no avail. I believe that it is related to this latest update which I just did today.

    With Illustrator it has never been a good idea to directly save or read from external flash drives.

    True but this happens even saving to main drive and copying to new location as well. Frustrating as some of my vendors use older versions and now they can’t open the files without some round about way that destroys the editability of the file and links.
