Fill a shape with text

I founcd a shape (clip art) on the internet.  I saved it.  I want to pull it in it Ai and fill with text.  I need to conver the shape somehow.  I have wateched 50 you tube videos and can not figure it out.  Please help!

I am unable to take a pic.  Basically i saved a picture of a shape I found on google.  I opened it in Ai and I want to copy and paste a poem in it my daughter wrote.  I am unsure what I need to do to the sape to add the text.  Im new to Ai.
