Question

'Find and Replace' function changes the font weight

When I use the 'Find and Replace' function on an existing document, it changes the text to Metropolis Bold, no matter what the original font was.

On the ' Find and Replace' pop-up dialogue box, none of the options like 'Match Case', 'Find Whole Word' etc are checked.

On a newly-created document, it works fine (ie. doesn't change the font).

It's never done this before on my old computer, but it has been an issue since using a new Mac. Is there a setting that I'm missing?

Are you using the current 29.1 version release of Illustrator? There is a known text bug where users try typing lettering into an existing text string and the new lettering is set in a default font. The bug you're describing could be related to it. I would suggest either downloading and installing a prior build of Illustrator (a previous release can be installed alongside the current version) or downloading and installing the Illustrator Beta.

Thanks a million, Bobby! I installed the older version and the problem's fixed. Woohoo!
