Flickering cursor between arrow and selected tool

Hi,

 

I know this has been a recurring issue through the years, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. I've just put up with it forever, but I'm to the point where I simply can't use the brush and pencil tools to draw in illustrator due to the constant flickering of the cursor. 

 

I'm using the most recent version of Illustrator CC on a Macbook Pro 2022. This happens on when using the mouse as well as using my Cintiq Touch HD 24.

 

Any help would be amazing. I've suffered for too long 😞

    Is Photoshop running in the background?

    Does it also happen when the tablet is disconnected and the driver not installed?

      Thanks! Closing Photoshop helped for me. Seems like this penomenon still occurs in 2025. 

       

      I work on a Mac Studio with Apple M1 Max and 32 GB. 15.1.1 (24B91). Illustrator version 29.2.1. / Photoshop version 26.2.0.

      That's kind of weird. I have Photoshop running in the background most of the time on my Macs, but have never seen that issue.
