hello all!

just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with adobe illustrator V29.1.

I type out my copy "Glorify Sans Semi Bold" then change to this font but then after I go back to add or make a correction to the copy and it reverts back to a different font. (serif in the middle that says "what is going on with fonts adobe?" happening on mac & pc both with latest version of ai. super annoying seems to be all files.

Hello everyone,

Our product is aware of the problem and is currently investigating it. Please stay tuned for updates on the UserVoice (https://adobe.ly/40Xoikv)

In the meantime kindly try reverting to Illustrator 29.0.1 and share your observations.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Two months later ... Dear Adobe - any updates on a resolution? Thanks!

Check for the 29.2 update.

All newer versions still have this bug, so please don't recommend updating if you didn't check if this is fixed.

Returning to oldest version. Best way to solve.

Have you managed to update to version 29.2? The issue hasn't occurred for me since disabling Missing Glyph Protection in 29.1, but the problem might not even be in the latest version.

I'll try disabling minsing glyph protection - thank you for the insight! (still on 29.1 - will try .2 next)

The workaround is to turn off Missing Glyph protection in the preferences.

Same issue here. It started perhaps about two months ago (I'm guessing after and update came along). I haven't been able to fix it, even restoring Illustrator default preferences. The worst of all it that is random, since it doesn't happen in all of my documents nor all the time. It's so annoying...

Turning off the "Missing glyph protection" in the preferences does not help?

I have the same issue on Windows. The font i selected when i started the new document became the default font in Ilustrator and when i select another font and started typing, strangely it started in that default font

Please try and turn off "Missing glyph protection" in the Preferences > Type

SO frustrating and such a basic error. Come on Adobe, chop chop with the update to fix it.

Hi there. Go to Preferences > Type >  Disable Missing Glyph Protection. Works for the rest of us. 💪

Can you solve it by disabling Missing Glyph protection in the Preferences?

To work around this bug, disable "Enable Missing Glyph Protection."

This worked for me, as per the answers below.
