Cannot see what font you are using so would be hard for anyone  to answer your post

Try “Adobe Song Std L“ and set you keyboard to Chinese input. Chinese simplied comes up as Pinyin, and I have no idea what that means.

If you do not have chinese in your keyboard input go here and hit the plus sign

I also like to check the "show input menu in mens bar" as find indispensable for switching languages.

Hi Srishti

MAC: OS Sierra 10.12.5 (Mac Pro)

Processor:  3.7G Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5

OS Language:  Chinese

Illustrator Version:  CC 2017 / Chinese

Previous AI Version:  CS6.

Just a quick note.  My problem is on AI instead of InDesign.  My files from AI CS6 have the problem when I open it in CC 2017.

Thank you for reaching out.
