Font won't color

I am trying to change my font color to a gold gradient color, however, the text refuses to change. I have attached to this what it looks like. The chosen fill is the gold gradient and so is the stroke, however just the stroke has taken on the color. How do I fix this, I have tried doing it the text way, also the dropper way, and the select way but nothing has worked.
