free transform tool issue

Hi everyone! I am new to the Illustrator. I was trying to edit some mockups today and needed to use the free transform tool to distort them. I watched multiple videos on how to use it. However, as you can see from the video I attached, only the top 2 tools work. When I select one of the edges when using the bottom tool and drag it, the image does not become distorted. I have been trying to figure it out for quite some time. Could someone explain to me where I went wrong? Thank you so much!
