Freedom Gradient problem

I've seen this kind of delays with freeform gradients on many machines. The more freeform objects you select the more time it takes to execute common things like scaling, moving, rotating etc. and often a progress bar will appear that shows that the preview is being created. At some point Illustrator may then just perform extremely slow or even freeze.

It's only one of many reasons why I avoid using freeform gradients at all.

Does that happen in every object ? 

Have you tried quit illustrator and try in a new docyment ?

if yes, did you reset illustrator preferences settings ?

What version of Mac OS and Illustrator are you running. Your Freeform (I belive Freedom was a typo) gradient might be locking up, due to an OS software mismatch, or maybe your prefs are corrupted.

Can you please show a screenshot and also the appearance panel for that object?
