Frustrated newbie!! PLEASE HELP!

Hi guys! Please be patient with me, I'm a grade A newbie!
I can’t seem to be able to edit vector images downloaded from vecteezy. Tried changing colours etc but it doesn’t work. Can’t even highlight with arrow to edit size etc. It just has a grey box around it with a cross through it? I've tried searching all sorts of possibilities but nothing seems to match up with my issue. I've seen it done online from this site before and the images come up with all the layers that you can edit etc but mine isn't AT ALL! Just this grey box around the images and nothing else! Any helps would be awesome! Thanks guys

It may not be working if you're draging and dropping that image into an existing file. Opening up the eps up in illustrator in it's own file then copy and paste it into the file you want it to be in. You should be able to select the image and colour it from your pallet. Hope that helps 🙂

Did you buy it?

I'm guessing you downloaded the preview, which will be a watermarked png or jpg... which are not editable in Illy.

Hi there thank you for responding! It was free and downloaded as an eps file. I work colleague showed me the site and also downloaded a free eps file on the same site and was able to edit as much as he wanted I'm just not sure where I'm going wrong?

What does the layers pallet look like in the file? Screen shots would be helpful. The way you are describing it, it sounds like the file you have is not actually vectors, but it's hard to tell from just a verbal description. It could be another issue entirely.

Thank you so much for responding! I've taken some images for you and these are some of the dead ends I'm meeting. Can't recolour artwork and the grey box with the cross which I've not seen before. I'm really new to this though.
