Gaussian Blur forming flare/layered effect and isnt smooth

Guys I was trying to apply gaussian blur to an orange circle, but as soon as i applied it from the effects menu, it made that kind of flare effect, I needed it to be smooth but it formed a flare layered effect. Please suggest on how to fix it

Correct answer Monika Gause

Group the orange circle with the black background. THen apply the effect. If it's still not working well, try and mix some yellow and magenta into the black.
