Adobe Illustrator 2020 fails to open the AIX file that is exported from ArcGIS Pro. I keep getting the Text Import Option dialog box error. Can you please help? I tried to open the file by double-clicking it and by File>Open option. Nothing worked. Please help!

hi check the following steps for your need...regards

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, with a map or layout view active, export and save it as an AIX file.
  2. If necessary, install ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud.
  3. Open Illustrator and sign in to the extension with an ArcGIS Online account (Creator or GIS Professional user type).
  4. In Illustrator, click File > Open. For the file type, choose ArcGIS - Adobe Illustrator Exchange (AIX).
  5. Browse to the location where you saved the AIX file and choose Open.

After the file opens and processing is complete, artwork appears from the exported map. The artwork is organized into an easy-to-understand layer structure that's ready to edit using Illustrator tools.

  6. Save your edits as a new .AI file and use it in your graphics workflows.

Did you create the AIX on your machine?

Or did someone send it to you via mail? If that is the case ask them to first ZIP it and then send again.

Can you then make sure that everything is compatible?

Have you asked the ArcGIS people about it? They should know if it is supposed to work in Version 2020.
