Getting weird line across document on outer glow, at 300dpi

Hi,

I have a rather big piece of artwork where I'm trying to add an outer glow effect to a large number of objects. The effect renders correctly at 72dpi but as soon as I use 300dpi a horizontal line appears across the entire artboard where the glow is cut off. Objects below the line lose the upper part, and vice versa.

I've checked to see if any other layer is messing with the effect, but found nothing. I have the maximum amount of added space around raster effects (10 cm). I gave tried duplicating the dots and only adding the glow on one set and letting the other set have the other effects (not visible in the picture, but they're supposed to have radial blur as well as a slight feather).

The image is rather dark, but hopefully you can see the line right under the three dots in the centre of the picture.

Applying it to the layer will result in one huge pixel artwork that needs to be calculated internally and will also include areas where there is not even an object.

So that makes sense, glad you could solve it.

@Monika Gausse: It needs to work at 300dpi since it will be printed large and hung on a wall. I did have the same issue at 150dpi however, but not at 72dpi.

@Anna Lander: I exported as a png and the issue remained.

Either way, I found that one solution was to simple add the effect to each individual object instead of applying it to the layer. I don't know if there's any particular reason for this, or wether the one or the other is better practice in general. Thanks for the help either way.

what happens when you export it in any raster format? May it be that the issue is just a bad preview in Illustrator?

As you might already suspect the resolution could just be too high. Can you try 200 ppi?
