"Ghost" Wacom bug

I have Mac OS Sequioa 15.4.1. and Illustrator v29. I do not have a Wacom table of any type, nor do I have any Wacom software.

However, upon launch Illustrator says there is a problem with the Wacom driver. To fix this, I have tried:

- searching entire hard drive and removing anything named Wacom.

- trashing all preference files.

Illustrator still defaults to thinkng thiere is a Wacom drive, in preferences. Disabling it and restarting does not fix this.

How do I make Illustrator stop whining about Wacom?

I did once have a Wacom device, about 15 or so years ago. I've searched everywhere and there is nothing named wacom on my hard drive. Did they use some other name, maybe?

/Library/Frameworks/ had some Wacom stuff in it. Per the first link you posted. I removed it and problem solved!

Hello @OliverHevvy,

Could you share a screenshot of the error message, so I can better assist you with this? Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I created a new admin account. Same problem. What's next?

Hi @OliverHevvy,

Thanks for the update and for sharing the screenshot! The "Enable Wacom" option in Illustrator's Preferences under Devices is used to integrate advanced features

for Wacom tablets, such as pressure sensitivity, tilt, and other stylus-based input behaviors. When this box is checked, Illustrator actively communicates with any Wacom drivers present to allow for a more responsive and natural drawing experience. However, if you don't have a Wacom tablet or driver installed, Illustrator shouldn't ideally show warnings or

errors about Wacom(you must have used it in the past). Since you're still seeing this message even with the option disabled, it's likely being triggered by a leftover system reference or plugin.

Could you please navigate to Applications > Adobe Illustrator 2024 > Plug-ins and check if there's anything related to Wacom that may have been missed? If you do find something, move it out of that folder and restart Illustrator to see if that helps clear the issue.

If that doesn't resolve it, I'd recommend going through this Adobe HelpX article that addresses similar

Wacom-related issues:

Also, a couple of community threads discuss this same issue, please take a look:

Looking forward to your observations.
