Question

GPU Not Detected - 29.5.1

Windows 11 - Recently updated to 29.5.1 and noticed a dramatic decrease in speed in Illustrator.  Looked at Edit > Preferences > Performance and found the GPU was not detected.  I have an Nvidia 2060 Super.

After many attempts at trouble shooting, I installed 29.3.1 and GPU was working again.

I tried to use the "Administrator" start up, but that also failed.

Hello @MicahBurke,

Would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU(s) drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/4kWnUJN) and checking if it helps?

If the problem persists, try
manually resetting Illustrator's preferences and sharing your observations:

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Go to Location C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe

- Rename Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Illustrator 29 Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old and Adobe Illustrator - 29 Settings.old

- Relaunch Illustrator from Creative Cloud

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I did all of the above before installing the old vers.

1) Installed fresh drivers.

2) Set performance to high.

3) Renamed Illustrator settings folders.

4) Reset Preferences.

5) Tried Administrator mode.

None worked. Only installing old version worked.

Hello @MicahBurke,

Thanks for confirming. We'll need some more information to be able to help you with this scenario:

1. AiSniffer file:

- Close all Adobe applications.

- Navigate to the Illustrator Preferences folder and copy the AiSniffer file to the desktop from this location:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 29 Settings\en_US\x64\

2. For the System Report, kindly follow these steps:

- Please press Windows Key + the letter "R" on your keyboard to bring up the Run command window

- Type "msinfo32" in the Open field and left-click OK

- While viewing the Microsoft System Information summary, go to File, then choose Save (Please do not use Export)

- Save your MSINFO32 report as "msinfo32.nfo" on your desktop to easily locate it later. It can take up to a minute to generate a report.

Kindly upload the files to Google Drive/Dropbox/etc. and share a public link here or via DM so that we can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
