Gradient along stroke is not rendering well in PDF

I have created this art using "gradient along stroke" made in illustrator. When I export it as a pdf, the rendering fails and I am able to see the color mesh. Currently I am saving each artboard as an image to avoid this issue but is time consuming and I am force to rasterize the art.

Any advice?

Looks like the transparency is flattened.

How do you save your PDF?

Can you share a PDF example?

Thank you Ton, for your reply. I have tried different pdf presets with the same result. The image I shared was saved using the "Illustrator default" preset.
