I have a logo that is currently a photoshop file placed into illustrator, what they want is for there not to be a placed image but to be all vector.

Is there a automated way to turn the gradient into a vector shading/gradient/shapes?

This is part of the logo:

so far this is the best I've managed:

Who are “they” and why do they require vectors for your gradient? If the image has sufficient resolution is will print as well as vectors. Also, many of the ways to accomplish this type of gradient in Illustrator will output as bitmaps anyway.

The original post is nearly 5 years old. Mujahid32217316d8hz bumped it with an image of an unrelated logo (a logo that at first glance looks like the fills could be reproduced using standard gradients).

    Hi there,

Along with the suggestions shared above, you can also try manual tracing and then shading using mesh tool: The Mesh Tool - Coloring and Shading - Adobe Illustrator - YouTube.

Illustrator does have a feature called Image Trace which you can use to "convert" raster images to vector. The results vary from "OK" to awful. However, you might want to try it for yourself and see if you can get acceptable results. See How to edit artwork in Illustrator using Image Trace for a tutorial in its use. There are also a number of videos you can check out on YouTube by doing a search for "Illustrator Image trace".

Try and create a blend to get this.
