Question

Gradient with opacity created in Illustrator disappears on PDF

When creating a gradient from full colour to opacity to 0% on Illustration and then saving it as a PDF, this gradient becomes a solid color block. There is not longer a gradient. How can I fix this? I wish to save it on PDF so I can print it.

Thank you in advance.

Which PDF viewer is it? Acrobat?

Is it a freeform gradient?

Please show more of your file.

selected gradient with the gradient tool and the gradient panel, the layers panel, the appearance panel, the colour fields panel, the transparency panel and so on...

Crystal ball mode turned on:

You have a color gradient from white to transparent. The white was created from a black swatch with the attribute: Overprint.

Expected result: The white becomes invisible.

Check your Over print in the Attribute panel. Also check the Transperancy panel
