Question

Graphics with transparent background are not showing up correctly in my workspace-HELP!

I have worked with Illustrator for several years and have never seen this issues. I am attaching samples to look at. I am in my NORMAL view. When looking at my workspace, all graphics have a WHITE background on them when they are DEFINITELY transparent. It makes it super difficult to arrange graphics. When I export the document everything looks fine, but while in the workspace it looks like this. What changed?

Here is what I have done so far to try and resolve:

- Change my views

- Updated graphics driver

- Relinked graphics

- Deleted graphics and inserted new ones

Nothing seems to work - please help. I appreicate you.

What kinds of files are you importing into your layout? Were the same images working previously?

If the logo files are JPEG images they'll always have a white background; JPEG is a pixel-based format and does not support transparency. PNG is a different pixel-based format and does support transparency, but not all PNG images are going to have transparent backgrounds. Many of them have white background baked into the image, just like any JPEG image. It all depends on how the PNG image was created and the settings used to save the image.

The best thing to use for logo artwork is vector based files. The only way they'll have a white background is if someone grouped a white rectangle behind the other objects in the artwork; that shape can be easily deleted.
