Question

Grey/black vertical lines when printing Illustrator file

Hi

I believe this is a common problem but I have not seen any definitive answers so far.  My problem is that I have 'assembled' wedding invitations in layers and when I print them multiple faint and not so faint fine grey/black lines appear on the printed card.  This is not acceptable for me or my clients.  I have tried making the cards in a single layer, saving them as pdf files, and other suggestions but all to no avail.  It is not my printer as it prints other non-Illustrator documents with no issues.

Is there anybody out there who can help me please!

Regards

Quattromania

    Quattromania,

What happens if you Save As or Print to PDF and print it from Acrobat or Reader?

I wonder whether the issue can be caused by your using a non PostScript (emulating) printer (driver).

If the above helps, you may try to find out whether a PostScript driver is available for the printer for direct printing.

    Hi Jacob

Thank you for your quick reply.  I had tried your initial suggestion

    without success.

I have now downloaded some updated drivers (released October 2016) for my

printer (Canon MG7550) and the outcome is much better but not perfect.

    Regards

It may be worth trying to change the Transparancy Flattener preset to "High Resollution" in the Advanced settings of the Print dialog.
