Is it just me or have the grid lines become SUPER thin/faint in the latest version?

Thanks, all. It looks like there might have been a bug with an outdated Astute plugin. I updated and guides are back to their normal visable selves.

Depends on your screen resolution. On old-school monitors the guides and grids were 1 pixel wide, which on older 72 -  96ppi monitors was pretty visible. However on newer high-pitch monitors, which can be more than 200 ppi, Illustrator draws them 2 pixels wide, but sometimes this isn't as visible as before... particularly if your guides are a light colour like Cyan, or worse, if your guides are dots instead of lines:

Unfortunately, Illustrator's UI scaling doesn't increase the guide/grid width if you set the UI larger. I'm pretty sure there's a feature request idea to make this adjustable so maybe look in the User Voice channel to upvote any currently request.

Here's an example of the difference between my regular pitch 2nd monitor as compared to my iMac's retina screen:

I don't see the grid on your screenshot, did you mean the "guides" got thin? I haven't noticed a significant difference

Yep, I meant “guides”.
