Having Issues with Fills and Extrude & Bevel (Classic) FX

Hi everyone, has anyone had any similar issues with the Extrude & Bevel (Classic) effect lately? I am wondering if there is something that I am not doing correctly. 

I need to turn this image of an application into an isometric 3d object. However, everytime I go to apply the effect, the fill goes away on the background. I've tried grouping the image together, not grouping it, grouping and expanding, rasterizing... I feel like I'm out of ideas. 

I've done this previously without issue as shown, and I even followed the same steps I took to create the previosus version. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated as this projects deadline is approaching soon!
